CHRIST THE REDEEMER 90TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR

Christ the Redeemer’s 90th birthday celebration! The most famous brazilian monument was inaugurated on October 31/1931. Therefore, this year (2021), There has been planned a week of concerts and several other events throughout  the year.

Markedly, the main celebration is scheduled for October, at Marquês de Sapucaí (Rio’s Carnival Parade place, better know as Sambadrome).

On March 01, the city of Rio de Janeiro’s 456th old anniversary day Religious and political authorities gathered at the foot of the monument.

During the event, Mayor Eduardo Paes highlighted that, despite the critical moment of the pandemic, Rio’s anniversary takes place in a climate of greater hope, with the evolution of vaccination against covid-19.

Notably, the main celebration of the anniversary of Christ will be from October 9th to 17th, with concerts by national and international attractions on the so-called Palco da Paz, which will be set up inside the sambódromo area. Some Brazilian artist such as Jorge Aragão and Elba Ramalho had already confirmed their presence.
