Sugarloaf Mountain Cable Car Ride
Sugarloaf Mountain’s major attraction is the cable car ride. Visitors can take one of two cable cars to the summit, where they can take in the breathtaking views of Rio de Janeiro. The stunning views from the cable cars enclosed by glass panels will also be a highlight of your trip. The ascent takes place in two stages, from Praia Vermelha to Morro da Urca – 528 meters ride, and from Morro da Urca to Sugarloaf Mountain, 749 meters long. Both legs traveled at a speed of approximately 22 km/h, with a total time of 3 minutes for each stretch.

Any time of day is good. Expect to see lots of people in the afternoons, especially on weekends and holidays. The best time to go is early in the morning to avoid crowds and the heat during Summer. However, to enjoy one of the city’s most stunning Sunsets on a clear day, the best time to visit is in the afternoon. A round trip inside the park lasts approximately 2hs and 30 min.
